People can eat out with whomever they want.
People can eat out wherever they want.
People can eat out whenever they want.
*Apparently because we have been deemed smart enough to not go eat with Covid infected folks. However...
We know the ‘rona has a two week incubation time during which there may not be symptoms.
We know some folks never have symptoms.
We don’t know if you can get it more than once, so even people we know who have antibodies, might not be safe.
We don’t do tests until people have symptoms...and some folks never have symptoms.
*Therefore, us knowing who is “safe” and who is not... is literally impossible. But the rules say...
When we decide to go out with the “safe” folks at our table, we must wear our masks when being seated, as to not splatter our germs on folks in range as we walk by.
Our seats must be spread far apart and occupancy of each establishment reduced.
When we sit, we can take off our masks and sit close, and talk to our “safe” friends and eat.
*Therefore, we must be smart enough to know the impossible of who has it, but not smart enough to not splatter our germs on folks when we walk by. Masks are the mandated solution. So, to protect everyone...
The waitstaff has to wear masks.
The customers do not (and really can’t)
The masks effectiveness is at best one way (protecting the customer from the waitstaff sneeze or cough) but proven ineffective at protecting the wearer from exposure.
*Therefore, the waitstaff is breathing customer “impossibly determined as safe” germs all evening. Every table they go to, they breathe this air of the customers who are smart enough to know the impossible, but not smart enough to not splatter their germs on folks as they walk by. Unfortunately, this completely breaks down when you realize...
The waitstaff are people.
When their shift is over, People can eat out anywhere, with anyone, whenever they want.
The absurdity cycle is complete.
* In conclusion: off-duty waitstaff people will wear marginally-effective, one-way protection masks to protect their servers as they walk into a neighboring spaced and reduced capacity dining establishment. They will do this, to protect their servers from the germs they don’t know how not to splatter on people as they walk by. They will get a table with their off-duty friends and fellow servers, who they have impossibly determined as “safe”, because they don’t have symptoms of a disease with no symptoms. These off-duty servers will get a table, remove their masks, and be waited on by waitstaff who they will be marginally protected from, as that server now breathes in all the (impossibly presumed “safe”) germs their customers breathed in all night as they waited their tables. All this as 14 days tick by waiting for them to potentially not show any symptoms....so they can get tests... That are inconclusive.
Although I used restaurants for this example, I could have used the WaWa, gas stations, schools, colleges, Home Depot, Supermarkets or any other business for that matter.

THE TITLE - Sisyphus is a central player in Absurdism. He’s the guy in Greek mythology who rolls the rock up the hill, endlessly, knowing all the time that it will repeatedly roll back down, crushing him as it does. Absurdism is a philosophy near nihilism that postulates that all endeavor is pointless, but that mankind needs to “feel value” in the doing...even though we know it’s pointless.
