Riverside Adventure Company is again working with Amy Houseknecht to create some paddling opportunities that combine exercise for your body, with exercise for your mind and soul.
Registration is a little different in 2024. This year we offer three versions of each of our full moon paddles. Select the experience that suits you, and register as many different people as you like using the “add to cart” button. When you have everything you want in your “cart” simply press “check out” to complete your registration.
What you can expect during your evening
Part 1 - (first hour) Stretching, Yoga, breathing and mindfulness with Amy
Arguably, there is no prettier spot in Montour County to observe the upcoming FULL MOON; than the Montour Preserve.
The planets and moon are not only amazing to gaze upon from this vantage point; but they also undeniably effect who we are, and how we experience our daily existence. We would like to explore those things with you.
Below, you will find the itinerary and timetable for this event, as well as some words from Amy about what she does, and what she tries to accomplish in her time with folks who are open to stretching, breathing, and practicing mindfulness to fully embrace each day.
From Amy,
”Mindfulness is a self generated energy that supplies us with the space and time we need to create an increased quality of learning and life. Mindfulness enhances the ability to organize tasks, manage time, set priorities, and make decisions. Life does not have to be a struggle to live a present, fulfilling, happy life. Meditation is a practice for achieving these goals. Meditation provides us with tools for navigating this stressful world, while allowing us to deepen our connection with self.
Join me for a guided meditation, breathwork techniques, sound healing; followed by Makko Ho daily renovation stretches which rejuvenate the body, strengthen crucial core body functions, and stimulate blood and lymph circulation. Movement creates improved health and life.
I feel nurtured and peaceful in nature, appreciative of the quiet space it provides us to be, connect, and create; I invite you to share in this space with me. “
Love loves through us ~ Amy Houseknecht
NOTE - YOU WILL NEED A YOGA MAT, TOWEL OR BLANKET FOR THIS ACTIVITY.
Part II - (second hour) On the Lake
Note - you can arrive an hour AFTER the official starting time, if you are planning to just do the moon paddle part of the evening.
We take to the boats a little before sunset and get out on the lake. The park officially closes at dusk, so this is a special offering.
You can stay with the group as we paddle around, or if you let us know: feel free to paddle a bit on your own. Either way, being on the lake during a full moon is something special.
We provide everything you need including boats, paddles, life jackets and Guides. If you have your own gear, it’s fine to bring it along if that makes you a more comfortable paddler. There is no discount for doing so, as our staff will still be helping get the gear to the launch location and doing he same amount of work as if we supply the gear.
What’s included if I do both?
Two hours of mindful stretching, exercise and paddling at the Montour Preserve
A beautiful moonrise, at a beautiful place, with beautiful people
Light, healthy snacks and drinks
Paddling gear (if needed) with brief safety talk.
Two Guides to help you fully experience the event both body and mind.
What’s not Included (that you might want)
A yoga mat, blanket or towel.
and if you forget…we’ll figure something out…
We partner with Amy Houseknecht to create an evening for mind and body at Montour Preserve. Amy sets the stage with mindful stretching, breathing, yoga and sound bath to open your mind. Next, we take to the canoes and kayaks to experience the rising moon from this amazing perspective. Do both parts of the experience or simply what moves you. Options available to suit everyone.
